2. Bodyweight Training
Bodyweight training is another one of the buzz-worthy fitness trends for 2017. Some even say it is more beneficial than using traditional weight machines. Why? It’s argued that weight machines narrow the range of motion that is targeted, meaning only specific muscle groups are targeted at once. Bodyweight training expands the areas allowing you to strengthen larger groups of muscles effectively. It’s very convenient too. All you need is some space to move around a bit. Fitness trackers like Jawbone, Fitbit and Misfit (to name a few) are all the rage. So, is it a worthy trend to try? We vote yes. Wearable fitness tech has come a long way from where it started. Originally, most wearable tech was only capable of tracking the amount of steps that you are taking. Now, features and capabilities have expanded which makes choosing a band much more personal based on your wants and needs. Also, the material used has really improved from cheap plastic-like material to more durable and stylish options. 5. High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)
High-intensity interval training is any workout that has intense bursts of activity alternated by periods of low activity or even complete rest. An example work out could be running as fast as you can for one minute followed by two minutes of walking = three minutes for each interval for a total of 15 minutes. HIIT carries some excellent benefits from improving your heart health, to increasing your metabolism to burning fat instead of muscle. No equipment is required with HIIT classes so it can be done virtually anywhere.
